When the Calling Comes Before the Confidence

Preview

Here’s something I’m still learning (and relearning):
You don’t need to feel completely confident to start something meaningful.

That probably sounds obvious. But if you’re anything like me, someone who overthinks, loves a plan, and wants every detail just right, you know how hard it is to begin when things feel uncertain.

The truth is, when I launched Chapter and Charm, I had a dream and a whole lot of doubt riding shotgun. I had this vision of what it could be, something heartfelt, where every wrapped book or letter felt like a story coming to life. But I didn’t have all the answers, and honestly? I still don’t.

And yet, I started anyway.

I started with imperfect branding.
I started with packaging that changed ten times.
I started with tiny batches of books and just a few followers watching.

And what I’ve learned is that confidence didn’t come before I started it came because I started.

This blog post, this whole blog really, is another version of that same step. A little leap in the middle of uncertainty. A quiet promise to keep creating, even when my inner critic gets loud. A way to connect, to share the heart behind the brand, and maybe remind someone else that they’re not alone in the “figuring it out.”

Because let’s be real: that voice of doubt? It still shows up.

I hear it when I wonder if people will connect with a new letter series.
I hear it when I question whether what I’m doing really matters.
I hear it when I stare at a blank screen, unsure what words to write.

But then I remind myself: Progress doesn’t start with confidence, it starts with showing up.

I wrap every package with intention. I write stories that mean something to me and hope they mean something to someone else too. I let the imperfect steps build into something beautiful over time, because that’s how all good things grow. If you’re reading this and you’ve been waiting for the right moment to start something, a creative project, a business idea, a change you’ve been dreaming about, maybe this is the reminder you didn’t know you needed:

You’re allowed to begin before you feel ready.
You don’t have to have it all mapped out.
You don’t have to feel fearless.
You just have to take one honest, brave step.

I don’t have it all figured out, but I’m learning to trust the process, the messy, magical, in-progress part of the story. And I’m so thankful I get to share pieces of that story here with you.

So here’s to creating in the in-between. To dreaming out loud, even when we doubt ourselves, and to starting, not because we’re fully confident, but because we care enough to try. Thanks for being here. Whether you’re a customer, a fellow creative, a book lover, or just someone who wandered onto this page… you’re part of this journey now. And that means more than you know.

With love and a little bit of courage,
Taylor
